As we head into the next Lectionary year, we prepare ourselves for the Gospel of Matthew. Come along on Saturday 19 November 2022 from 9:30am – 12:30pm to explore the many degrees of the Gospel of Matthew.
Led in the morning by Rev Dr Sean Winter (Academic Dean, Coordinator of Studies in New Testament, and Associate Professor within the University of Divinity) we will then move into your choice of workshop covering music, liturgy, intergenerational or everyday action. We will also unveil an Icon of Matthew, painted by Rev Dr Peter Blackwood.
Workshop Choices:
- Matthew in Melody – Nigel
A workshop to explore music and lyrics that we can use through the year to integrate Matthew’s gospel in our worship and devotion. Bring your ideas. Leave with a resource of existing sacred hymns and secular music, and contribute to writing new songs, that focus on going deeper together into Matthew’s story of Jesus.
- Intergenerational Worship Planning – Lisa
A workshop to plan interactive, intergenerational Worship (Together@10) based on the themes of Matthew 25. How do we encourage our congregations to engage with Jesus in the least of these?
- Matthew 25 Projects – Chris
A Workshop to work out the themes in Matthew 25: in practical ways. The task of this workshop is to come up with ideas for a project for each theme which the congregation can work on in the weeks following the Intergenerational (Toether@10) services.
- Liturgies & Prayers – Wendy
A workshop to brainstorm ideas for the liturgies and prayers to be used throughout the year informed by Matthew themes. We can use words, objects, and symbols to anticipate the coming of our Lord and his kin-dom.
