Saturday 1 April

And about the 9th hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why have your forsaken me?

Dear Lord
Forgive us when we deny our faith, when we relegate You to an hour on a Sunday, when we fail to prayerfully consider your word and when we willfully try to live our lives according to our will and not Yours

To Ponder

The Cross means many things to many people. Growing up in the Uniting Church since I was  baby I had a certain understanding of the meaning of Easter. Now I am a parent and guiding my children in their developing faith, I have been forced to look deeply at what I once felt was true and what I now am reconsidering. In the past I knew in my head that Christ died to take away the sins of the world: redemption and salvation. My heart however has trouble reconciling that the loving God that I have experienced in my life would require a sacrifice to “pay” for my transgressions. This is what I ponder, understanding that for you it will be different.  God allows me to metaphorically put his Son to death on the cross and yet is still willing to love and nurture me. God is all grace. The cross symbolized to me that there is nothing I can do that will lessen God’s love for me and and there is nothing I can do that could make God love me more. Do you feel that to be true for you? Thanks be to God.
