What is the role of the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania in addressing climate change?
The JIM cluster has produced a consultation paper with the church and is seeking responses from church members.
Come along to a zoom discussion on 23 June 7-8pm to discuss the issues and hear from 2 speakers.
Dr Mark Zirnsak, author of the consultation paper and senior advocate at the JIM cluster will speak about what he is seeking from us as church members
Dr Chris Dalton, UCA member, eco theologian and member of the Synod ethics comittee will provide a theological framework for the discussion and push us out of our often anthropocentric worldview.
The first 20 minutes will be contributions from our speakers and then the floor is open to discussion and questions so that we can help form the best possible response for the wider church.
The consultation paper is available here: https://justact.org.au/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2020/05/Climate-change-consultation-paper-2020.pdf
Please read before the meeting so we spend our time in discussion – it is long but there’s an executive summary if you can’t manage the whole document.
Please email Claire Dawe (email@example.com 0410 827 597) for the zoom link plus any questions you might want to ask. Questions and comments can be asked/made throughout the discussion.
In order to manage numbers, please email Claire if you intend to come along or for more information.
