We are a seeking a barista / Assistant Cafe Manager, who is experienced and skilled in the industry, delivering exceptional customer service, and able to connect and build relationships with members, customers and people within the community. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Nurture and build friendly relationships with members of MUC, customers, suppliers and partners within the community while helping to lead a team that delivers exceptional customer service
  • Communicate and consult with Café Manager on operating needs, customer feedback and supplies
  • Work alongside a diverse team
  • Greet and engage customers as they enter café
  • Produce and serve customers with consistent top quality coffee and drinks in a timely manner
  • Answer customer enquiries and take orders
  • Prepare and serve food 
  • Keep bar area clean and organised
  • Comply with health and safety requirements
  • Check and maintain functional use of brewing equipment
  • Open / Closing operations and operating point of sale
  • Oversee cafe operations in absence of manager
  • Help train staff & volunteers

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years work experience as a barista
  • Minimum 4 years work experience in hospitality 
  • Additional certification (e.g Barista Certificate and/or hospitality) is a plus
  • Hands on experience with professional coffee machine
  • Additional cooking, menu creation experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Food service experience
  • Flexible to work within and outside operating hours (including weekends and public holidays)

  • Training and willingness to stay up to date with latest brewing methods, and food and beverage preparation
