Lynette and I were delighted to receive an invitation from the Manningham Church Seniors Ministry to attend a Christmas Dinner on Friday 6 December. On arrival we were surprised to see tables set for more than 60 seniors, resplendent with table decorations and bonbons. Catering was provided by Tally Ho Catering Service and the ladies catered for our every need with efficiency and smiling faces.
Initially we were offered a welcome cool drink followed by roast turkey and ham with all of the trimmings. We were even offered ‘seconds’! Sweets were the traditional Christmas pudding or individual pavlovas as an alternative. Those who had special dietary needs were catered for individually. Finally there were chocolates and tea or coffee served to our tables.
Megan orchestrated the event in her usual efficient and compassionate manner and it was a great delight to have our talented church choir appear, resplendent in red clothing, to sing some carols for us, after which we all participated in carol singing, accompanied by Lauris, which rounded off a most enjoyable event.
I felt that the only thing missing was the opportunity to adequately thank all of those members of our church family that made this possible. It is apparent that occasions like this do not take place without a great deal of planning, much effort by a number of people and considerable expense. I am sure that others who attended would like to join with me in expressing our appreciation to Megan and her team of helpers for an occasion that we will long remember with appreciation.
