Who could connect…

Who could connect…

Manningham Uniting Church (MUC) is committed to building existing community relationships, to further learning from and supporting the church and local communities, and to promoting places and interactions of welcome, safety and collaboration.

The major MUC priorities, also reflected in the broader Manningham community are:

  • Children, Youth and Families, and
  • The Ageing Community
  • These are built through worship, learning and spirituality and all other church and broader community connections
  • There is strong MUC focus on social justice broadly e.g. family violence, Aboriginal recognition and relationship, asylum seekers / refugees, all aspects of disability and diversity, environment / climate change, tax evasion, garment trade.

Together with diverse and flexible worship spaces, the new MUC community building will assist as a gathering and meeting place, and as a base from which to interact and partner. The finished building is some way off, but existing and new partnerships and opportunities are under development and discovery now…

Who might this involve, both existing partnerships and into the future?

  • Current playgroups (Tuesday and Friday during term) involve many children, parents and grandparents from all parts on Manningham
  • There is a growing support relationship with Doncaster Secondary College that will be strengthened by the planned youth spaces
  • Manningham FRESH Youth Theatre, as part of the broader FRESH theatre for Social Change, will be assisted by performance and storage space
  • Current free weekly English conversation classes
  • Seniors lunches, music groups, dementia support and more will all be enhanced by the food preparation provisions and connection spaces in the new building
  • Training spaces for a range of groups and activities
  • Developing existing and further connections with and space for Doncare services
  • Further connections with and space for Eastern Aboriginal organisations
  • Several existing community support partnerships – asylum seekers, Connections, anxiety support, Kids Hope, LinC, health activities and more
  • Training spaces for a range of groups and activities
  • People of all ages and abilities will be welcome in the café and play areas
  • MUC Ministry Team and volunteers will be on site
  • Gathering space for a wide range of MUC and community activities
  • Auditorium and meeting spaces will be able to be hired by business and community groups
  • Other partners that will evolve…
