Instead of a Lenten Study series over three or four Monday evenings this year, Manningham Uniting Church members are invited to engage with a daily study guide called Lenten Reflections, 2019.
The Lenten Reflections comes in a very attractive magazine format, and includes daily Bible reflections, prayers, activities and questions for discussion.
Apart from the excellent, easy to read and well presented material, Lenten Reflections can be followed in the comfort of your own home, by individuals, couples, families, children and young people and older members of the congregation – and friends and neighbours.
It can be enjoyed by people with considerable theological knowledge and by people who say they don’t know anything about Lent or theology. Lenten Reflections is for everyone, regardless of age.
Now Lent is a spiritual journey Christians take prior to Easter, in order to build a closer relationship with God and as a journey, it’s better taken with company. Here’s an idea! MUC Learning and Discipleship and Worship Portfolios together, would like everyone at MUC to pick up a copy of Lenten Reflections 2019 after church (one per household, perhaps) and find or form a small group or cell group to meet with once a week – over lunch, morning or afternoon tea or even dinner – to discuss the readings and reflections set for the week and perhaps engage with the household activity that’s included in the material.
Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, is the 6th March this year, so we need to start straight away.
